This morning, Abbott Labs (ABT) declared its quarterly dividend of forty cents per share. With the dividend, the compnay announced third quarter earnings of $0.92 per share, beating Wall Street estimates of $0.90. Investors cheered the news, sending shares higher in afternoon trading with gains in excess of three and a half percent. In other dividend news, Procter & Gamble (PG) maintained its quarterly dividend of 44 cents per share. Altera Corporation (ALTR) maintained its quarterly dividend of 5 cents per share. Northeast Utilities (NU) maintained its quarterly dividend of 23.75 cents per share. Among dividend increases, Goodrich (GR) announced its quarterly dividend of 27 cents per share, an increase of about 8% over its prior dividend in August of 25 cents.
