I really enjoy longterm investing more than any other style. I feel with longterm investing you have to have great paying dividend stock to ride out for 20 years or so. Then you would be sittin on mills.

I have heard of an experiment where stocks were picked throwing darts and beat the S&P. True story or Urban legend? I feel just about any portfolio can work. And technically it is true, there's an up and down side to every stock the trick is to figure out when to buy and sell, and how to stay on the right side of the trade. 3rd year investing, just started to learn the ropes of trading. I began as a buy/hold longterm investor. But after losing 1/2 my value in less than 6 months, I have been force to react and evolve. I am trying a preservation of capital approach. My new approach requires that I trade. I have decided to only invest with money I earn trading since I get paid crap, and I can't afford to contribute anymore. My favorite strategy right now is to track the major indexes, and major contributers, and movers of this crisis. Oil, Energy, Gold, Currency, and the Indexes (lets not forget financials). I am trading the index ETFs and ETNs. Selling short, or going long double short ETFs when its over bought, and buying long or shorting double short ETFs when its oversold. Same thing with the major commodities and Currencies using ETFs. It is a strategy that has just begin to pay off, in this first wave. I sat out the first two to test, observe, and confirm. I plan to use procedes to dollar cost average into long term, hi yeild stocks. Everything is on sale, and getting cheaper. It is an exciting time and offers a huge opportunity.
