The Communication and IT Minister, Mr A. Raja, has constituted a committee under the Secretary, Department of Telecom, to suggest ways to boost local manufacturing. The panel has been asked to submitits report within three weeks. During a meeting with telecom equipment makers on Wednesday, Mr Raja said that the Government was keen to promote local manufacturing in the country. The industry was represented by the Telecom Equipment Manufacturers’ Association and the Communications and Manufacturing Association of India. Vendors, including Nokia (NYSE:NOK) , were also present for the meeting.
