My investment style involves trading a small handful of stocks that I am familiar with over and over again based on whether I think they are overvalued or undervalued. My approach is very pragmatic, but works rather well in my experience. I tend to stay away from technology and focus on utilities, financials, homebuilders (shorting them at this point), pharmaceuticals at times, conglomerates and especially special sitiations. As far as risk, I consider myself rather conservative since I buy securities that either fall out of favor or are temporarily undervalued. That said, I like to buy stocks that pay high dividends so its easier to hold them for longer periods of time. I like finding gems that are trading for half their book value and just sit on them until the market discovers them. Basically, I buy wholesale and sell at retail. I am looking to meet people in raleigh who are serious about investing and would be interested in getting together to discuss ideas.
